We are very excited to announce the 2008 QMEA Music Festival that will take place May 16th, 17th and 18th 2008 at McGill University.
Gala concert will be held Sunday, June 1st 2008 at 2pm, at Oscar Peterson Concert Hall, Concordia University, 7141 Sherbrooke Street West, Montréal.
Adjudicators for each category will listen to and evaluate performances, give rankings, and help to decide upon distribution of gifts, bursaries, and trophies.

RULES AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF THE FESTIVAL
Classes will be held for the following categories: piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, voice, and concerto. |

Applicable to public and private schools as well as private teachers. Duos, trios, quartets, quintets, sextets, septets, octets, and nonets.
Category is determined by the age of the eldest ensemble member. |

- All pieces performed by solo participants must be played from memory.
- Candidates may register to play one or several pieces as long as the performance does not exceed the maximum allowed time.
- Any performance exceeding the allowed time will be interrupted.
- The above listing should serve as a guideline for the selection of material to be played by each student.
- The performance will be judged according to musical selection, technical merit and artistic interpretation.
- The candidate must remit a copy of each musical selection to the adjudicator. Candidates without original copies of music will automatically be disqualified. PHOTOCOPIES WILL BE REFUSED.
- Please be advised that classes in the following categories will reflect the number of participants per age group: strings, winds, and concerto.
- Students are responsible for providing their own accompanist, as needed.
- Registration fees are non-refundable.
- Participants selected for the Gala Concert must play the repertoire performed in the class for which they received the winning adjudication.
- Candidates must be present at the Gala.to receive their prize.
- No changes to the program will be accepted after the application deadline of April 1st 2008.

**Small Ensembles are required to pay the initial fee as per the age of
the eldest participant plus $10 for each additional ensemble member. Please list the names, ages and instrument of all members of the
ensemble on a seperate sheet. |
*Students of a teacher who is a member of the Quebec Music Educators' Association are eligible for the reduced rate. For membership information, please visit our website.

| 2008 National Music Festival |
Candidates wishing to participate in the National Music Festival must be between the ages of 18 and 28. Please visit the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals website at www.fcmf.org for repertoire requirements from the 2008 syllabus.
